Context

I was invited to design the flyer for a lecture and musical performance organized by UCLA’s Stavros Niarchos Foundation Center for the Study of Hellenic Culture.

The book that the lecture was based on featured a sepia-coloured photograph of several grim Greek musicians holding their instruments. I was especially struck by one pair of musicians, the trumpeter and violinist, and used them as the basis of a line illustration which was reminiscent of a tangled musical staff. I added a picture of the presenter and his book at the request of the client.
